Beautiful gardens , unfortunately, will need to come back for a castle visit. I didn't expect it to be fully booked the time we arrived. Absolutely amazing stuff, and gardens well kept.
Lovely little castle that we spotted when just driving along the Fife coast. They have the castle and gardens to visit plus they do guided tours. We just stopped for tea and cakes which were very tasty. There is both indoor and outdoor seating for their cafe.
Beautiful and interesting gardens. Worth doing the castle tour, lots of great stories to hear from 2 excellent guides.
Leave the hustle & bustle of Edinburgh and feel the unique local history in Kellie Castle.
A totally private tour with an experienced guide. When we arrived at 11.00 we were the only ones to attend a tour led by a local volunteer. It was a great lesson how the castle and people were affected by the great stream of historic events. Next tour was less than a dozen of people - not top many but earlier arrival paid off.
Pluses:
- tours organized hourly,
- free parking,
- play area for kids nearby the castle in the forest (do not look for the signs, just explore the local paths),
- tea/coffee served with local cakes with a beautiful view on nearby coast and islands.
The only minus could be the walled garden was not oppened.
What a great place, right on my doorstep as well 🙄 true what they say 😂 lovely lunch in the courtyard prior to our guided tour of the castle, followed by an ice cream sitting in the walled garden on one of the many benches that are place around to show of this well laid and look after garden, fantastic way to spend a Sunday with lovely sunshine and views down over Pittenweem & the forth, many thanks to all super friendly staff for an enjoyable day out
The car park is ok size, when we visited it was nearly full. The woodland walk is small and very easy just round the outside of the castle. The adventure play area is just off the walk and there is a lot of equipment to play on. There is a small labyrinth (paths made through the meadow) great for letting kids run off some energy. You can also find the picnic tables here. The toilets are outside the castle in a small round building. You have to book a time slot to go into the castle. The tours start on the hour and last 1hour. The guides you get two one for the first floor different guide for the second and they very informative and very knowledgeable and very appreciative that you took the time to come and visit. The gardens are very well looked after and you can buy some of the fruit and vegetable they grow. There is a few benches placed around the gardens.
Incredible wee castle. The cafe serves amazing cakes and the food was delicious ! My kids had a great time roaming the grounds and the tour was also a good experience.
Pretty small castle. Lovely staff in gift shop and cafe. We did the inside tour at 11am, approx 14 people which was a good size. John our guide was fantastic 😀, funny and very informative. The best tour I’ve been on. Nice walks around the castle with a small playground. Lovely walled garden. Soup and baguettes for lunch together with a cranachan cake. All delicious. Toilets spotless.
